Tom C. Korologos lived quite a life. A long-time supporter of the Engen Museum and a Salt Lake City native, Tom started his career as a journalist then turned to politics where he became a prominent fixture in the Washington D.C. political landscape for more than 60 years. That included working in the White House for Presidents Nixon and Ford and serving as U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium.

In these parts, he likely is best known as the man behind the phrase “The Greatest Snow On Earth” which appeared with in article Tom wrote in 1960 when he worked for The Salt Lake Tribune as the skiing editor. The catchphrase quickly snowballed, becoming the state’s ski slogan and then appearing on Utah’s license plates.

Tom will be greatly missed, but his legacy will live on every time someone enjoys “The Greatest Snow on Earth”.
