Induction Year: 2024

Terrie Hanrahan

Terrie first experienced skiing in 1958 at the age of 13. Her family rented a cabin near Mt. Telemark ski area in Northern Wisconsin and a family friend offered to teach them how to ski. After completing college with a degree in biology, Terrie earned a medical technology degree and worked in a hospital in Milwaukee. On a dare she applied to and was hired to be a ski instructor at Alpine Valley.

Terrie continued her passion for skiing as an instructor at Ski Sundown, west of Hartford for the next 11 years. She earned her Level II at Butternut Ski Area in western Massachusetts. She earned her Level III at Sugarloaf Ski Area in Michigan.

Terrie was a Level III Ski Instructor and previous Supervisor when she arrived in Utah in 1995. She was hired by Snowbasin to be the Children’s Supervisor and Trainer for new instructors. She was awarded Snowbasin’s “Ski Instructor of the Year” her first season. Terrie advanced through CS I and II and to the revised ACE III to become a CS trainer for the PSIA-AASI Intermountain Region.

Terrie recruited help to produce a puppet show for the kids at Snowbasin based on the legend of Old Ephraim. She later adapted it to booklet form with the help of her daughter, where it was published and sold in the Children’s Center.

She continues to be an active ski instructor at Snowbasin and the Ogden Valley Adaptive Ski Foundation. She was recently awarded her 40-year PSIA pin. Terrie is a well-respected substitute teacher in the Davis County Schools.
