Alan Schoenberger

Alan Schoenberger (1947 –     )
Ski competitor, dancer, stage performer, entertainer, innovator and passionate coach, Alan Schoenberger has won world acclaim and admiration on many fronts. His eclectic talents took ballet skiing out of the realm of “hot dog” skiing and put it on the world’s freestyle skiing agenda. Those talents also brought him 16 first or second-place finishes in international ballet skiing competitions between 1974 and 1976, including the World Ballet Skiing Championship in 1976.
His innovative flare developed the ski carpet, used at theater and ski venues, training facilities and ski shows. A graduate of Utah State University, Alan has been showcased in numerous television programs, books, training videos and international publications. For a decade, he generously toured his alpine theatrical performance to benefit youth alpine teams, published ski education books and videos, and worked to help rehabilitate wounded warriors and adaptive skiers. In 2011 he received the Pioneer of Freestyle Skiing Award from the National Ski Hall of Fame. His unique ability to blend the art of ski ballet, professional dance, theater and music to create a unique experience for his audiences is only one of the many indelible marks Alan Schoenberger has carved on the world’s ski stage.
